Hosting Facebook apps

Lot of people mail me everyday regarding best hosting provider for hosting Facebook application. I prefer hosting my apps on Godaddy. They have an excellent customer support and good webinterface to easily manage your server.

Regarding server plan. I started with Godaddy Linux shared web hosting economy pack. Then as my started getting viral I switched to Godaddy Virtual dedicated server. I wants to try Amazon Cloud to host the application. Will post the result.

I started with the basic and the cheapest one. Later when my apps start getting viral. I switched to the higher plan. It is just a one click configuration

I have some other suggestions too…
give em a try… I dont know too much about the logics implemented for your existing/upcoming apps but from where I see, a PaaS solution is the best for you.. try these

    1. Google App Engine
    2. CloudFoundry
    3. CloudShift

Ofcourse Amazon EC2 is amazing but then do you really need the complexity and stuff… I personally recommend Google App Engine, though it has a limitation (atleast thats how most guys I know look at it) and thats the NoSQL database that it has, BigTable..

Google app Engine doesn’t support PHP and after a certain limit that is not free. As compared to Virtual hosting, Cloud hosting is very costly for Facebook apps because of the ups and downs. Opt for Cloud hosting only when you have Games like Farmville, Fishville in which you have continuous income.
